With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we thought we’d share some delicious recipes, helping you offer your customers something delicious to treat their loved ones to.
The Starter
We sell frozen queen scallops (66099) – simply defrost, pat dry, season with a pinch of salt and pepper, then heat a splash of olive oil in a pan over a medium heat and cook for 3 minutes each side. We would suggest serving 3-4 scallops per person as a starter, but feel free to serve more for a main course.
Some tips: don’t overcrowd the pan, or the scallops will steam and you won’t get the nice crust. Use tongs to swirl the scallops around when you first add to the pan, this helps coat them in a bit of oil and stops them sticking to the pan.
Serving suggestions: you could serve these with a simple salad, cherry tomatoes and some avocado (86491). If you want to go a little different, drizzle with some pesto (87333) and serve with grilled asparagus, or before searing, wrap in our cooked streaky bacon (73821) for some extra savoury deliciousness.
The Main Course
If you’re after something vegan-friendly, you can try our new Moo-less Mince from Daring Foods – perfect in a spagbol – who doesn’t love a big sharing bowl of pasta?
100g diced onions (44646)
100g diced carrots (88448)
200ml veg stock (made from bouillon)
1/2 tin chopped tomatoes (23818)
1tsp of oregano (45232)
1tsp basil (67482)
500g of Moo-less Mince (84219)
Spaghetti (52678)
Simply fry the onions and carrots until soft, add the veg stock, chopped tomatoes, oregano and basil then simmer for 10 mins.
Add the Moo-less Mince and cook for a further 10 mins or so, while you boil the spaghetti.
Drain the cooked spaghetti and drizzle with a little olive oil, then pile in a big bowl, topped with the meat-free spagbol sauce.

The Dessert
